All Might and Majesty
“All Might and Majesty” is a collection of mostly hymn-based organ music performed by young and very gifted organist, Brenda Heck Portman. Brenda is the First Place Winner of the 2007 Arthur Poister Organ Competition and the 2006 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition. Along with other competitive awards she is a church musician and the mother of an adopted son, Micah.
This recording was made on the 3-manual, 1992 Schantz organ at College Church in Wheaton IL. The works chosen are considered chorale preludes and illustrate a variety of harmonic and contrapuntal styles and melodic development. The one non-hymn based piece is a four-movement Wedding Suite useful for festive occasions as well as for service music. All of the works on this recording are published.
